2013 marked the centenary of the founding of Hobart High School and its successor institutions, Hobart Matriculation College and Hobart College. To celebrate the significant milestone in state education for Tasmania, the Old Hobartian Association worked with former students of the school and college to raise the capital funds needed to create a perpetual scholarship at the University of Tasmania.

The Old Hobartian Centenary Scholarship annually supports students graduating from Hobart College to study in any discipline at the University of Tasmania.
